The department of periodicals is responsible for the editing and publishing of periodicals. The department supervises editorial offices, the editorial offices are . ded by chief editors.

"FOREST SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY"

Founded in 1958, Chinese monthly, distributed home and abroad. The circulation reached 80, 000 copies. This monthly enjoys high reputation in Chinese forestry circles. To meet the development of market economy, this monthly modified its layout in 1994. The scope of modified monthly covers: silviculture-forestry; science and technology-economy & science /technology; correspondence-information transmission. The modified monthly has increased page number, format 16 mo, with colored front cover and inserts. Abundant forestry information from China can be obtained through this monthly. Agents have been set up home and abroad. Message and advertisement from enterprises are welcome.

"WORLD FORESTRY RESEARCH"

Founded in 1988, Chinese bimonthly, distributed home and abroad, with English contents and abstracts. Papers on global forestry and forest development in various countries are printed, comprehensive surveys of forest management, progress of forestry science and technology, tendency of forest industry and forest product market are published. This bimonthly enjoys high reputation in Chinese forestry circles, it is an important reader for forestry decision makers, researchers and teaching staff.

"CHINESE FORESTRY ABSTRACTS"

Founded in 1985, Chinese bimonthly, an authoritative periodical of forestry abstracts of scientific /technological papers. The amount of abstracts approaches ten thousand a year. The coverage of abstracts exceeds 80%, including all the import papers. All the abstracts printed in current and previous years can be received several entries. A database is being established simultaneously with the publication of abstracts. The abstracts are distributed by means of publication d computer diskettes.

The amount of abstracts approaches 4000 a year, including all the core documents. The forestry scientific and technological papers of all countries can be reviewed through this periodical, important conclusions and data can be obtained. The forest industrial scientific and technological papers of all countries can be reviewed through this periodical, important conclusions and data can be obtained.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION RESEARCH

The main activities of this department are to collect forestry information and to carry out research on information. This department played a key role in reporting systematically the situation and achievements in forest science and technology for many years, published many research papers, and, consequently, enjoys high reputation. A series of important information research projects were completed in recent years, including those of international cooperation, such as the establishment of Bamboo Information Centre, the Structure of China's Tropical Timber Market, the Current Situation of International Cooperation of PRC and the Prospects for the Year of 2000, A Demonstration Programme of Sustainable Utilization of Tropical Forests by Means of Differential Management in Hainan Island, China. All the projects are carried out mainly by the professionals of this department.
